GRE Registration Information
How do I
sign up for the GRE? All registration must be done through the
Educational Testing
Service.
How much
does it cost to take the GRE?
The current fee to register for the domestic GRE is $115 (USD).
Outside of the U.S., U.S. Territories, and Puerto Rico the test
fee is $140 (USD). If a computer-based test appointment is cancelled
at least seven calendar days prior to the scheduled appointment,
or if a paper-based test appointment is cancelled at least 15 calendar
days prior to the scheduled appointment, a partial refund of $60
(USD) is issued. The test fee of $115 includes the release of your
score report to up to four graduate schools. Additional score reports
can be requested for a cost of $13 per school. To have your GRE
scores sent to a certain school, contact GRE Customer Service at
888-473-7267.
When and
where is the GRE administered?
Since the GRE is given on computer, there are no "national"
testing dates like those seen for the SAT, LSAT, and MCAT. Instead,
the GRE is available on demand, year-round, at test centers throughout
the world. This will be changing in October of 2006, so please visit
the ETS website for more information.
You may not
take the GRE more than one time in any calendar month, even if you
cancel your scores. If you take the test more than once in a given
month, your new scores are discarded and your test fee is forfeited.
You may also take the test no more than five times in a given calendar
year.
