Writing Scores and Multiple Test Scores

Have you ever wondered if colleges really use your SAT writing scores for admission? Or which scores the admissions board will use if you take the test multiple times? If you ask your high school guidance counselors or college representatives, you're likely to get many different answers. That's because there ARE many different answers. Each college has its own policies for evaluating the writing scores and multiple test scores. The PowerScore SAT Team contacted the admissions offices of over 170 colleges and universities to find out how individual colleges are evaluating the SAT for the freshman class of 2008. The answers from the representatives are below.

1 = Combines the highest individual math, reading, and writing from multiple tests
2 = Takes the highest single test administration
3 = Takes the score from the most recent test adminstration
4 = Averages all of the test administrations
